New HMDA Filing Login Requirements

If you are a HMDA filer, CFPB has made the filing process more secure or more complicated depending on your viewpoint.

According to this quick reference guide, effective January 1, 2025 a Login.gov login, which includes multifactor authentication (MFA), will be required to file your institution’s 2024 HMDA data.

Users will no longer have the option to sign in using the processes used for filing in prior years.

A Login.gov account created must be associated with a business email address of your institution. Personal addresses will no longer be permitted to be used.

After logging in with your Login.gov credentials, the process should be the same as in prior years. You can get more information on the process here.

Since March 1, 2025, falls on a Saturday, the filing deadline is Monday, March 3, 2025, but don’t wait until the last minute!

  • Make sure your institution has renewed their LEI in advance of the 2025 filing.
  • Obtain your credentials for Login.gov.
  • Make sure you have a properly formatted upload file.

Does your HMDA LAR need a second set of eyes prior to submission?
