Sara Kirkpatrick
CRA/Community Development Associate
After graduating from Covenant College in Chattanooga, Tenn., Sara was determined to make a difference in her community.
With a major in community development focused on alleviating domestic poverty in rural and urban areas, she anticipated working at a non-profit group or in local government.
But after moving to Virginia, a job posting for a community development specialist at a regional bank caught her eye.
Her skills were a good fit. Sara started working on the bank's community development programs, including a first-time homebuyer's program for low-income residents and corporate giving through the bank's charitable foundation.
The work gave her a firsthand understanding of bank CRA programs and a rewarding way to put her education into practice and build a successful career.
After returning to Savannah, Ga., her hometown, she joined TCA Compliance.
Though she's no longer directly administering community redevelopment funds, Sara sees her TCA work as a different way to further her goals rather than a departure from her original career plans.
Her view is that by using her compliance expertise, she can widen her impact. She ensures that CRA and Fair Lending programs operate effectively at multiple banks and enables these banks to serve and strengthen communities by meeting their credit needs.
I relax by spending time with my husband, family, and two cats, and I enjoy baking sweet treats and sourdough bread. I'm also a runner and have completed three half-marathons and my first full marathon in Savannah in 2024.
