For the sixth year in a row, Brian Crow, co-president and managing partner of Chicago-based TCA Compliance (http://www.tcaregs.com), will deliver real-world, how-to advice on BSA/AML compliance issues at the BOL’s 2020 BSA/AML Top Gun Conference. The conference will be held in Scottsdale, Ariz. on March 3-4.
Crow will be conducting six sessions at the Top Gun Conference and participants will leave with strategies that they can implement immediately to address their BSA/AML compliance challenges and reduce risk.
“As a former banker, I know firsthand that BSA officers may feel like they’re living on an island inside the bank,” comments Crow. “This year, I’ve developed sessions to help them communicate with board members and explain the risks when management wants to explore higher-risk relationships and only sees fee income and not the potential risks.”
Crow’s sessions are:
What Happened Since Last Year?
Get a high-level overview of BSA/AML developments during the last year, including enforcement actions and CTR and exam manual updates.
Virtual Currency: Exchanges Masquerading as Users
Learn about virtual currency and how to spot suspicious activity red flags, based on FinCEN’s guidance.
Beneficial Ownership After the First Exam Cycle
Gain insight from the feedback institutions have received from examiners and learn about the setbacks and operational successes they’ve experienced since due diligence became the 5th Pillar.
BSA: It’s Not Just For Deposits
Find ways to make BSA training more compelling for staff and help them more easily identify money laundering red flags. Though cash is king in money laundering, once the money is placed, other vehicles also can be used. They aren’t easy to detect, especially if BSA officers don’t have a strong deposit background.
Transparency in the BSA Exam: How should you prepare?
Gain insight into the questions that executive management and the BSA officer should be asking, as well as what to focus on to prepare for the next exam.
The Bank Wants to Provide Services to That Industry?
Find strategies for managing risk within your organization and the risks that come from outside. Learn to speak management’s language in terms of profit and loss and understand staffing needs and the soft costs of compliance.
In addition to live presentations, BOL’s 2020 BSA/AML Top Gun Conference sessions (https://www.bolconferences.com/topgun20/index.html ) will be available via a remote video stream. There also will be 30 days of unlimited access to the archived sessions.
